Daniel Rubinfeld taught economics and law at the University of Michigan before joining the Boalt faculty in 1983. He was chair of the Jurisprudence and Social Policy (JSP) program from 1987 to 1990 and was the associate dean and chair of the JSP program from 1998 to 2000. He has also served as deputy assistant attorney general for antitrust in the U.S. Department of Justice, as well as in various capacities with the President’s Council of Economic Advisors, the National Academy of Sciences, the Urban Institute, and the National Bureau of Economic Research. From 1992 to 1993 he was a fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences, and in 1994 he received a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship. In addition, he has been a visiting professor at New York University School of Law on a number of occasions, most recently in 2005. He was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2001.
